Biden DHS Secretary Reportedly Asks For Assist With Border Disaster He Mentioned Would not Exist – The Political Insider

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas under President Biden reportedly asked for volunteers to aid with an “overwhelming” number of migrants at the border, a crisis he said days ago did not exist.
According to Fox News, Mayorkas sent an email to staff seeking help with the border crisis.
“You have likely seen the news about the overwhelming numbers of migrants seeking access to this country along the Southwest Border,” Mayorkas wrote.
“President Biden and I are committed to ensuring our Nation has a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system while continuing to balance all of the other critical DHS missions.”
The email references the volunteer force having been used during “a similar migration surge” in 2019.
“Please consider joining the Volunteer Force to again provide needed humanitarian support along the Southwest Border and relief for our CBP colleagues,” he requests.

What a difference a week makes.
Last Monday, Biden’s DHS Secretary Mayorkas was asked by reporters if there is a crisis developing at the southern border, to which he replied, “No.”
“I think that the – the answer is no,” he claimed. “I think there is a challenge at the border that we are managing, and we have our resources dedicated to managing it.”
Reporter: “Do you believe that right now there is a crisis at the border?”

He indicated DHS is “working around the clock seven days a week to ensure that we do not have a crisis at the border—that we manage the challenge, as acute as the challenge is.”
From ‘acute’ to obtuse, apparently.
Fox News notes that the border crisis may in large part be a result of President Biden’s own actions.
“The Biden administration has unraveled many of the Trump-era policies – including the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) which keep migrants in Mexico for their hearings, and agreements with Northern Triangle countries,” they write.
DHS has been grappling with a dramatic surge in migration in recent weeks as a result, “particularly in unaccompanied children (UACs) and families.”
A Wall Street Journal report indicates despite Mayorkas’ insistence that there is no crisis, arrests of unaccompanied immigrant children at the southern border have “surged.”
We have more U.S. troops in DC than we do in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
We should be sending more resources to the border but the Biden administration won’t even recognize the growing crisis there.

Head In The Sand?
Even Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Democrat representing the border state of Texas, seems to think the Biden administration has their head in the sand regarding the border crisis their policies are creating.
“In January, we had 78,000 people that were stopped at the border. In February, I think you’re going to see numbers close to 100,000 individuals,” Cuellar warned in a CNN interview.
“And keep in mind that March, April, May, and June are the peak time so we haven’t even hit the peak numbers right now.”
Cuellar added that by using “rapid-processing centers” to speed up the process, the administration is “providing an incentive” for illegal immigration.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott just announced that he is deploying National Guard troops to the southern border to address what he also refers to as “crisis.”
“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite illegal immigration,” he said.
